Ceramic tableware range

Ceramics...

Katrina's current product range includes functional, slab-built ceramic vases and tableware; cups, bowls, milk jugs, dip pots and spoons. She has adopted the hand building method, known as slab construction, in which to work. This method is fast and allows for flexibility in the forms that can be creatde, which means new ideas can be explored out without any trouble. This method of making is also suited to the way the forms are decorated.

Katrina is inspired by the natural world; plants and flowers in particular. She spend s time drawing from the nature that has interested her, which she then simplifies, sometimes focusing on one particular element and repeats this over and over. These drawings are then hand carved into blocks of plaster. These stamps are used to press the slabs of clay into which create raised and impressed surface textures. Due to the handcrafted nature of Katrina's work, each form is unique in its shape and patterning. Over the past year she has developed and refined her ange to a much higher standard, concentrating on the sizes of objects and how they fit together as a set. After much development of glazes, Katrina has refined one that she is happy with; a deep, shiny teal glaze that is fired to 1240 degrees Celsius. This glaze enhances the surface pattern by pooling in dips and around raised edges.

Each object is stamped with Katrina's signature as a sign of authenticity.

All products are dishwasher safe - tried and tested.
